One of the treasured events at MG3 is the annual British Car Field Day (BCFD) car show. BCFD is normally held on Fathers’ Day at the Village Park in Sussex. British car owners and enthusiasts have benefited for 40 years in having BCFD as an annual venue to showcase any and all road vehicles built in England. This year’s BCFD will be on Sunday, June 19th and all MG3 members are encouraged to attend! MG3 has a hospitality tent at the show to facilitate conversation with current and new members and to meet MG owners from surrounding clubs. Food and beverages are available at the Boy Scout pavilion.
Over the years many, many individuals have worked to facilitate BCFD. However, this wouldn’t have taken place without the vision and leadership of MG3’s club member, the late Bill Hentzen. Bill had a vision and he organized involvement from all local British car clubs to assist in carrying out the first event in 1982 at Naga-Waukee Park in Hartland. Under MG3 member Dan Donahue’s leadership in the 1990’s, BCFD was organized into a formal charity and took on the Committee structure and officer roles that remain today. Proceeds from BCFD benefit Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and the Boy Scouts of America.
Volunteers from MG3 have continued to be a backbone of the BCFD Committee in keeping this event happening over the past 40 years. If interested in volunteering, contact any of these MG3 members currently serving on the BCFD Committee: Fred Anderson, Bernie Evans, Tom Hahn, Ridge Howard, Cliff Muehlenberg, and Ron Willman. New ideas and enthusiasm are important in preserving this tradition.
