For the tour, we are introducing some new technology that will work on you smart phones.  We have created the Joint Spring Tour route in an electronic media – “Calimoto”.   Once downloaded and activited, It will navigate the participant turn-by-turn through the route.

You can access Calimoto on your smart phone buy going to the Apps store – search for Calimoto.  We’re using the “free” version – there is a Premium version – NOT NEEDED for our tour plus it costs you $$ on a monthly basis.  After you’ve created a Calimoto user name/password, you can play with it and get use to it’s features.  Access email on your phone, click on this link:

https://m.calimoto.com/r/YkaCPnEGIS and the Joint Spring Tour (Tour of 2020-05-13) should open up in your Calimoto app.  

The tour can also be accessed from a text and for those that are not able to access it via email, I will text the route to their phones during the Drivers meeting.  to your phone the Spring Tour route. 

You will be able to click on the route and it should open in Calimoto.  Once loaded, a map with the route will pop up and there is a “Start Navigation” button near center bottom of the route.    Once you’re done playing with it, save it as “My Rides”.  You will now be able to retrieve the tour at any time by going to My Rides. 

We feel there are several advantages of having the route available on Calimoto for tours:  1) We don’t have to worry about folks catching up when they miss a light and get separated from the group; 2) easy to catch back up if you have  a “Lucas Moment” and need a pit stop; and 3) when nature calls and you need a pit stop in advance of the planned bio-break!  

I expect that we will have at least 6 – 8 folks with Calimoto for this Joint Spring Tour.  We’ll stagger them throughout the caravan and make sure we have someone with Calimoto at the end of the group. 

I think tools such as Calimoto are the way of future drives.  You will find when you get it running that you can search for other local driver’s rides that they planned and found interesting (valuable for Club members (Ron, Cliff) that spontaneously decide on a morning drive.  You can add pictures along the way of the route –  hhmmmm, may be useful to plan a gimmick rally or bug run??   If you are going on this or future MG3 drives… you may want to download and use Calimoto.

For the safety of our members…please exercise social distancing. There is a wide variety of vulnerability associated with COVID-19 among our membership. The use of safety masks in encouraged at the appropriate times.  Additionally when outside of our cars…please keep the gathering to less ten people in one specific area. 

In the case of adverse weather that may cause the cancellation of the drive…an e-blast will be issue by 8am on May 23, 2020 canceling the event.
